Staff at the NSPCC Swansea Centre with the Day's marketing team
The Gareth day Foundation is very proud to have made a £500 donation to the NSPCC in Wales.
The NSPCC help local children to rebuild their lives from abuse and also help to find ways to prevent abuse from ruining any more lives. Our marketing team were fortunate enough to visit the NSPCC Centre in Swansea, to see where the money donated from the Gareth Day Foundation would be going.
The Centre is a converted chapel in Swansea, which is bright and welcoming. The centre is one of two in South Wales and from here, they organise many of their operations. We were shown around the building and saw some of the therapy rooms, which are catered to children and teenagers of all different ages and are full of toys and art equipment, which are used with the practitioners who are based at the centre.
The NSPCC operates Childline, a call centre which enables children to speak to a trusted professional if they have concerns about their wellbeing. They also operate a call centre for adults who may have concerns about a child, but are not sure what to do about it. Amongst many other things, the NSPCC also organises school visits which show children how to safeguard themselves against abuse and they also provide one-to-one sessions with families and young couples who may be dealing with mental health issues. They also run a ‘Flaw in the Law’ initiative, which lobbies for changes in the law to better-protect children.
The NSPCC receives very little government funding and relies heavily on donations to ensure it can continue to help vulnerable children in Wales.
We are very pleased that we could help such a great cause through the Gareth Day Foundation and we hope to continue raising money for them in the future.
