PEUGEOT's Electrified Future

The demand for electric vehicles, known as EVs is bigger than ever. With the e-208 you could travel up to 214 miles WLTP range, according to National Statistics for England the average driver in 2019 travelled 7,400 miles that's only 142.3 miles per week! We recommend charging your vehicle frequently but the average driver could drive the e-208 for a week without a single charge accoridng to the WLTP figures.

Below you will learn more about PEUGEOT's electrfied future...

By 2025 100% of PEUGEOT model line up will offer an electrified variant (100% electric or Plug-in Hybrid). In order to hit this target PEUGEOT estimates it will assemble 10,000 batteries a month for its car range by next year & as many as 7,000 for its LCV range. In order to meet their goal, PEUGEOT will require a major uplift in producing electric batteries. Recently PEUGEOT opened the lid on their growing team of technicians who specialise in the production for batteries. These technicans represent Excellence a key Brand value for PEUGEOT. Before the expert technicians join PEUGEOT factories across Europe they undergo special training.

It takes skilled technicians 60 minutes to assemble each 50kWh battery unit (pre-assembled cells and components). For the larger 75kWh battery it takes 90 minutes to assemble. Each battery is tested to ensure its reliability, performances and lifecycle. Each battery is put through a series of critical tests, allowing each unit to be guranteed with an eight-year / 100,000 miles warranty policy for 70% of its charge capacity.

The testing process is mandatory to sign off the batteries for the assembly:

  • The first test simulates operation of the battery in a vehicle to validate reliability
  • A performance test stimulates the battery at full rate
  • The last test is a sealing test. The battery unit is pressurised by gas to check for leaks by monitoring pressure loss. A proper seal will prevent water or dirt from getting inside the battery cells and compromising its lifecycle or performance.

Jérôme Micheron, PEUGEOT Product Director, said: “The electrification of the PEUGEOT range is a success: LEV (Low Emission Vehicles) models represent one out of four Passenger Car sales in Europe in the first half of 2022. PEUGEOT provides a wide range of electrified vehicles with the full-electric e-208 and e-2008. The New 408, the New 308 (hatch and SW) as the 3008 and 508 (fastback and SW) come with Plug-in Hybrid engines. The LCV offer is complete with 100% electric versions, with e-PARTNER, e-EXPERT and e-BOXER.”

PEUGEOT are accelerating their choice of electrified variants which includes the 308 & 308SW launched in May this year, both offer the Plug-in Hybrid options which have proved popular at our PEUGEOT showrooms at Day's. More recently PEUGEOT announced the new fastback 408 was revealed, which will offer 2 Plug-in Hybrid variants, learn more about the new 408 here.

PEUGEOT currently offer fully electric & hybrid engines with most of their models, please see below for more information.
