Why you should NEVER purchase part worn tyres!

Secondhand/part worn tyres could be putting your life at risk, and we urge our customers to please not purchase any. They are such a health hazard, not only to yourself but fellow drivers.  Research by the Local Government Association which represents councils in England and Wales discovered that some of the used tyres on sale were nearly 30 years old!!!! Part worn tyres are being sold with some serious defects and incorrect labelling that consumers may not be aware of. 

Another problem with part worn tyres is, do you really know where this tyre has come from? The history or the miles it has done?  

In 2017, 17 people were killed in reported accidents in the UK where illegal, defective or under-inflated tyres were a contributory factor. Which is why it is extremely important for drivers to check their tyres are safe and legal. The legal limit for your tyre tread depth is 1.6mm. 

Research shows that more than five million part worn tyres are sold in the UK every year, with the LGA warning sellers of illegal used tyres they could face prosecution - a hefty fine and a prison sentence. 

Used tyres may be the most tempting to purchase due to the price difference, however in the long run it works out the least cost effective compared to purchasing brand new tyres. New tyres are available to suit all budgets, provide a safer option and last longer resulting in better value for money in the long run.
