With premium audio quick becoming a desire in vehicles and the new trend for creating a more domestic atmosphere in electric vehicles, Ford made the intelligent decision to design an award-winning B&O Sound System for the all-new, all-electric Mustang Mach-E.
As drivers spend an average of four years of their life behind their wheel, Ford have utilised a third of Mach-E’s dashboard for audio. It is the first Ford to give its audio system such prominence.
The unique Heathered Grey textile replicates B&O’s iconic home speakers yet is robust enough for use in a vehicle. It gives all occupants of the Mustang Mach-E a great audio experience and makes a significant style statement whilst creating an element of calmness.

Audio System
An Externally Coupled Subwoofer (ECS) also uses the cabin’s unique shape to produce powerful bass performance, despite using 80% less space and weighing about half as much as usual. This also helps the Mach-E achieve its driving range of up to 600km.
Taking inspiration from the B&O sound experience in the Mustang, Harman acoustic engineers re-invented it to create a similar aural experience. Thanks to the lack of combustion engine, electric vehicles are a lot quieter, however this reveals noises that are usually muffled. The engineers overcame this whilst taking advantage of a quiet EV cabin – preserving rich bass performance and maintaining the clarity and detail true to the artist’s intent.
Spoken Voice
The tuning makes the most of the spoken voice. It helps audio books be more immersive, provides extra clarity during phone calls and can deliver a rich range of sounds. Unlike some rivals, Mach-E’s infotainment system even has integrated apps for podcasts, allowing you to play them on the go at optimum performance.
Additional Technology
The Mach-E is ready for the future as nearly all Mach-E computers can be updated wirelessly, meaning Ford can deliver performance enhancements and new features without the user having to leave home.
