Glamorgan point to point Horse Race
With Day’s set to be the Welsh Partner of Ineos Automotive, we will soon be welcoming the new Ineos Grenadier to our showroom in Neath.
In the run up to this exciting vehicle launch the Day’s team were invited to attend the Glamorgan Point to Point Horse Racing event over the Easter Weekend as Ineos both sponsor the event and would have the new Grenadier on display. We thought, what better way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon …. so we jumped into our very own prancing pony, the Mustang Mach E GT and headed off to the Races !
We set off from Swansea with 87% charge on the GTs’ battery and an estimated range of 188 miles, it was a hot day so we had the climate control on and the radio playing!
The Point to Point was taking place in Bonvilston, a stunning spot nestled in the Vale of Glamorgan, so our drive from Swansea involved cruising along the M4 and then joining the A48 at Pyle and following the road through to the farm where the horse race circuit had been set up.
The event was incredibly well attended, with long queues of traffic leading to the farm entrance. After parking we walked down to meet Lisa and Steve from Ineos who were answering customers questions about the Grenadier …. And boy, were they busy ! The Grenadier really looked at home there and was attracting so much attention it was difficult for us to take photographs.
The course was in incredible condition and the race horses were beautifully turned out, the earlier races were all close run events and the 3.30pm Ineos Grenadier Mixed Open didn’t disappoint. It was a 3 mile race and was narrowly won by only half a length by Financial Outcome, ridden by Miss Carys Morris and owned by Lord Lipsey.
After the race we were invited to the winners enclosure to present Lord Lipsey with the trophy, he was delighted with the win and even more delighted for Miss Carys Morris as this was only her sixth competitive ride …. A fantastic result for all concerned !
After the racing had finished it was time to hop back into the Mach E GT and head back home, it is remarkable how quietly the Mach E GT makes progress, having an amazing combination of road holding and performance when needed ( we even tried the GT only Untamed Plus mode for a short time ! ) we got back to base having covered 88.7 miles and averaging 3.1mls/kwh, we still had 55% charge remaining and an estimated range of 120 miles, meaning we had travelled 88.7 miles but only reduced the range by 68 miles …. Testimony to how efficiently the Mustang Mach E GT uses its power, even when being driven on motorways and ‘A’ roads.
