Hybrid and Electric Options Explained

At Day’s Ford, we are pleased to be able to offer a range of hybrid vehicles including the Ford Puma and Kuga models. Available to order is the 100% electric SUV model, The Mustang Mach-E. Visit any of our showrooms across South and West Wales to take a look.

Self-Charging Hybrid

Self-charging hybrids – also known as full hybrids (FHEVs) – combine petrol and electric power, without the need to plug in. Experience electric driving at lower speeds, with the battery recharged through regenerative braking.

Why choose a self-charging hybrid?

  • Improved economy - Improve fuel economy by making the most of electric-only driving on short journeys and at low speeds.
  • No need to charge - Regenerative braking captures energy usually lost when braking to charge the battery, so there’s no need to plug in.
  • Lower running costs - Electric-only driving while at lower speeds an on short daily journeys can help to reduce running costs.

Mild Hybrid (MHEV)

Mild hybrid electric vehicles (MHEVs) use a battery-powered electric motor alongside a conventional petrol or diesel engine to improve efficiency and reduce emissions, with no need to plug in.

Why choose a mild hybrid?

  • Improved economy - The electric motor's assistance reduces demand on the engine, helping to improve fuel economy
  • No need to charge - There's no need to find a charging point, as regenerative braking charges the battery as you drive
  • Familiar experience - It feels just like driving a conventional vehicle, but with a more responsive engine and improved efficiency

Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV)

Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) combine electric efficiency with petrol power. Enjoy short electric trips and switch to petrol for longer journeys. Charge at home or at public charging points, and easily refuel at the pump.

Why choose a plug-in hybrid?

  • Low-emission driving - PHEVs like the Ford Kuga are capable of zero tailpipe emissions while driving for journeys up to 41 miles*, offering a petrol engine for extra range.
  • Extended range - No need for range anxiety – the petrol engine is ready to take over when you run low on electric range.
  • Save fuel and time - Electric capability means fuel savings on shorter journeys. Ideal for commuting, school runs or city journeys.

Go all-electric

Make the most of cost-effective journeys and zero emissions while driving, thanks to our fully electric cars designed to fit seamlessly into your life.

Electric car benefits:

  • Zero emissions when driving - Drive with peace of mind that your EV isn’t adding tailpipe emissions to the air while driving.
  • Lower maintenance and running costs - Electric vehicles have fewer moving parts than traditional vehicles, meaning less maintenance and lower running costs.
  • Easy charging at home and on the go - Charge on the road with our BlueOval™ Charge Network, or install a smart EV home charger for easy home charging.
